Job Description

  • The High School Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction and supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students in a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Learning Environment and Professional Conduct

    • Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.

    • Foster positive, professional relationships with students that support engagement and academic success.

    Instructional Planning and Delivery

    • Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning outcomes.

    • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans and maintain long-range instructional planning documentation.

    • Maintain accurate and current student records, including attendance and grading, in accordance with district policies.

    Assessment and Reporting

    • Utilize data-driven practices to monitor student progress and inform instruction.

    • Administer and evaluate formative and summative assessments.

    • Provide timely, actionable feedback to students.

    • Communicate student progress to parents/guardians in accordance with school expectations.

    Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

    • Participate in required professional development activities aligned with school and district initiatives.

    • Attend and actively engage in:

      • Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)

      • Advisory/CREW sessions

      • Staff meetings and collaborative planning sessions

    • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community stakeholders to support student success.

    • Prepare and provide appropriate substitute plans in the event of absence.

    School and Community Engagement

    • Supervise students in accordance with district safety policies and procedures.

    • Participate in school-related events as required, including but not limited to:

      • Enrollment or outreach events

      • Parent-teacher conferences

      • Open house events

    • Support school community engagement efforts as directed.

    • Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned within the scope of the role.

    Performance Expectations

    Teachers are expected to:

    • Submit weekly lesson plans as required.

    • Maintain updated gradebooks and attendance records on a weekly basis.

    • Demonstrate compliance with IEP/504 implementation.

    • Attend required meetings and events as outlined below.

    • Meet professional standards for instructional quality, student engagement, and professionalism.

    Work Schedule and Required Participation

    The employee is expected to fulfill the following time commitments:

    • Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

    • Attendance at required events, including:

      • IEP meetings

      • Scheduled parent/guardian conferences

      • Open House

      • Parent-Teacher Conferences

      • Minimum of three (3) evening or community engagement events per quarter

      • Minimum of two (2) school-related events during the summer term

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Eligibility for Washington State Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsements (must be maintained throughout employment).

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively instruct diverse learners.

    • Knowledge of state standards, district curriculum, and assessment practices.

    Innovation High School is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with students in high school. The ideal candidates for these substitute teacher jobs have a bachelor’s degree and enjoy working with youth. We prefer candidates that are flexible, able to deal with ambiguity, and have some sort of education experience. These positions provide flexible schedules and competitive pay.


    HOURS: Full Time / Part Time : Mondays - Fridays

    ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible

    SALARY:  $200 per day (or $100 for 4 hours)
