  • Fashion Design

    Unleash your creativity and step into the vibrant world of fashion! This immersive course is perfect for aspiring designers ready to explore the full fashion journey—from sketch to runway. Students will start with the fundamentals of hand stitching, then level up to machine sewing, garment construction, and full outfit creation. Your hard work will shine in front of a live audience at the Innovation Experience Fashion Show, where your designs will hit the runway!

  • Student Run Ventures

    Have a big idea? Let’s turn it into a thriving business. In this hands-on, immersive course, students will learn what it really takes to launch and run a successful venture. Starting with their own original concepts, students will develop fully researched, thoughtfully constructed business plans—learning about marketing, operations, finance, customer service, and branding along the way.

    But it doesn't stop at planning—students bring their ideas to life.

    As part of the course, students work collaboratively to operate and manage two real, open-to-the-public businesses on campus:

    The Grind, a vibrant student-run coffee shop where students handle everything from daily operations to menu design, inventory, and hospitality.

    Dark Wood Collective, a PNW-themed boutique curated and managed by students, featuring local goods, art, fashion, and lifestyle products.

    These living business labs give students real-world experience in entrepreneurship, retail, and management. Whether you're dreaming of launching your own brand, running a café, or leading a retail operation, this course empowers you with the mindset, tools, and confidence to succeed in the world of business.

  • Performance Music

    At Innovation, music education goes far beyond the classroom—it's a full-stage, full-spectrum experience where students create, collaborate, and connect with the local music industry.

    In this dynamic program, students learn to play the songs they love using the instrument of their choice, whether it’s guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, vocals, or beyond. From day one, they’re encouraged to explore their musical identity while building foundational skills in technique, theory, and performance.

    Students can:

    Form bands and collaborate with peers across genres

    Write, record, and release original music using professional-grade equipment

    Perform live at a variety of school and community events, including Innovation’s signature showcases, festivals, and pop-up concerts

    Gain studio experience and learn the essentials of sound production and engineering

    In Innovation’s Visual Arts program, students explore how their creativity can become a powerful force for positive change—in their communities and in the world. Each course is built around student-driven inquiry, encouraging artists to ask big questions and use visual storytelling to express their ideas, challenge perspectives, and inspire action.

    Students experiment with a wide range of traditional media across both 2D and 3D disciplines—from drawing, painting, and printmaking to sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media installations. Along the way, they build the technical and conceptual skills needed to bring their vision to life.

    Beyond studio work, students also:

    Develop professional portfolios for college and scholarship applications

  • Construction

    At Innovation, students learn the fundamentals of construction with a strong focus on industry-standard safety practices. Through hands-on projects, students gain real experience building everything from instructor-led assignments to their own creative designs.

    The program adapts to all skill levels—whether you're just starting or ready for advanced builds. Students who continue for two or more years can earn college credit and gain exposure to local industry professionals, job sites, and career pathways.

    With opportunities to work with tools, design structures, and connect to the trades, students graduate ready to take their next step—on the job site or in the classroom.

  • Video Production

    In Innovation’s Video Production program, students dive into the art and craft of filmmaking—learning how to turn ideas into powerful visual stories. From concept to final cut, students explore every stage of the production process while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and software.

    Students will learn:

    Story development and scriptwriting

    Cinematography techniques including camera work and lighting

    Audio capture and post-production editing

    Genre and style exploration, from documentary to drama, comedy to experimental

    The course culminates in a student-produced short film, where they apply their skills to create original work ready for exhibition, film festivals, and portfolios.

    Throughout the program, students also explore careers in media, film, and digital content, and receive guidance on post-secondary opportunities—from film schools and media programs to internships and freelance pathways.

    Whether you're a future director, editor, YouTuber, or content creator, this course helps you build the skills and creative voice to make your mark on screen.

  • Photography and Journalism

    In this dynamic course, students learn the art of visual storytelling through photography, writing, and layout design. From mastering camera settings and composition to crafting compelling articles, students build skills in both journalistic reporting and creative media.

    As the official creators of the Innovation Yearbook, students take the lead in documenting the school year—planning, designing, and publishing a professional-quality book that captures the spirit of the community.

    Along the way, students explore careers in media, communications, and visual arts, and build a portfolio that showcases both their creative and editorial talents.

  • Leadership

    In this hands-on course, students take an active role in shaping the spirit and culture of Innovation High School. Working alongside ASB, Leadership students plan school events, spirit weeks, assemblies, and community initiatives that make campus life exciting, inclusive, and memorable.

    While organizing real events, students also build essential leadership skills—like communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management. The class emphasizes creating a positive, welcoming environment where all students feel seen, supported, and connected.
